Give

Most of the greatest joys we experience as we walk through our lives is through acts of giving.  Now I'm not talking about gifts of money, but I'm talking about gifts of our selves.  Just think for a moment how you feel with you hold the door open for someone at a store, or you help load someone's groceries in the car, or help a friend out who needs a hand.  Giving is deeply ingrained in our human nature.

Sometimes we allow time to get in the way of acts of giving.  We're too busy to stop and help someone out.  And, all too often, I "kick" myself for those missed opportunities as I walk or drive away.  And whom am I "kicking"? The Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit, the Spirit Jesus promised he would send to us to reveal all that Jesus taught, is the mover and shaker who is always giving us opportunities to be awake as well as pouring out wisdom in our lives if we are open to the Spirit.  The Spirit, if you will, is the power whose desire is solely to move us closer to the Father and the Son.

Sometimes we forget about the Holy Spirit.  We pray to the Father -- "Our Father", we pray to Jesus our Savior and Brother, but we forget the very active force that moves in, through, and around us.  That's the Holy Spirit.  Seek the Spirit in our lives by opening our hearts and inviting the Spirit to lead us this day.  We will find ourselves giving in small or even big ways we hadn't imagined.
