Sacrament
Holy Eucharist
"This is my Body. This is the cup of my Blood. Do this in remembrance of me." How does one explain this Sacrament? How does one tell of this incredible mystery of Love that is given to each of us in this Sacrament? How do we come to accept and believe that in this small host and this cup of wine is the greatest love story ever told?
This is the pinnacle of all of the 7 Sacraments. All the other 7 lead us to Eucharist or flow from Eucharist. In this Sacrament we believe and we know by faith that we are receiving the Body and Blood of Christ. This is the gift he gave us on the night before he died. And by faith he keeps giving us his very self every time we gather for Mass or for one of the Sacraments.
How do we know this is true? Yes, by faith. However, if we look at the fact that the Catholic Church has stood and continues to stand for over 2000 years, we can ask why. It is because the glue of our Church, our faith, is that in this Sacrament Jesus continues to feed us personally and call us to go out and bring others to the Table. This is because this food is Mystical and our Church is Mystical. We do not stand on human shoulders, though we try to, but on the fact that Jesus Christ is the very center who established our Church and gave us his very food to sustain us. This is the Eucharist.
