Upcoming Events |
A huge thank you to Mary Merrick who organized and facilitated Sunday's sack lunches for those in need. It was a huge undertaking to get all the necessary items but with the help of a large group of volunteers (Thank you, Sacred Heart), short work was made of it. We plan on having such an event on a regular time frame. We share our blessings generously that come back to us 100 fold. God Bless ALL of YOU!
Thank you to Paul Costello and Margaret Barilko who organized and hosted the New Comer's Dinner on October 19th. It was wonderful to see how many couples and families are joining us. Paul and Margaret organized the meal and served us. Then several ministry heads shared their work and invited the new comer's to join. It was a great, welcoming, Sacred Heart celebration. Thank you to all involved!
Ministry Weekend
Thank You to ALL! Thank you to all who organized the event especially to John Limb and Mary Merrick who organized us. Thank you to all of you who came and enjoyed the "wine and cheese" or "coffee and donuts" and looked and talked to the various ministers of our Parish. And a huge Thank You to those of you who signed up to serve in one of the many aspects of our Parish. It was so great to see nearly 25 new volunteers . Thank you for stepping out in Faith. God Bless Us All. The obvious theme was "LOVE" and our Sacred Heart LOVE manifested itself so plainly in our Ministry Weekend. |
Annual Toilet Paper Tower DriveIt is time for the annual toilet paper and food drive for St Vincent De Paul.
Please bring canned, nonperishable items and toilet paper for the Annual Toilet Paper Tower. On Thanksgiving Day we will help ST Vincent De Paul move it over to the Food Pantry. Parish Thanksgiving DinnerOur Thanksgiving Dinner is coming up November 23rd, the Saturday before Thanksgiving Day.
This was very, very popular when we did it for the 1st time. We have SO much to be thankful for. We are truly blessed. So I'm asking for volunteers. Many of you last year did a certain part of the meal: potatoes, dressing, gravy, set up and clean up, and serving. Do I have some volunteers? Would any of you do a "repeat" performance? Please let me know. We will cook the turkeys and ask everyone to bring their favorite dessert. God Bless. This week our special collection will support the Catholic Campaign for Human Development
Please be generous in this week’s special collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. In the United Sates, over 11% of the population lives in poverty. Through this collection, you support programs that address the root causes of poverty and provide a sustainable future for those struggling across the country. In addition, 25% of the funds we collect remain in our diocese to fund local antipoverty projects. Please prayerfully consider how you can support this collection and those working on the margins. More information about the Catholic Campaign for Human Development can be found at www.usccb.org/cchd. |

Sacrament of First Holy Eucharist
Sunday, May 11, 2025. This is Mother's Day next year. Children’s Sacramental Prep Classes for First Reconciliation and First Holy Eucharist are offered for children and/or grandchildren of Sacred Heart parishioners and will begin on Sunday, February 23, 2025, after Mass, in the Fellowship Hall. Classes will meet each Sunday following this (except for 3/23, 3/30, and 4/20). If your child is 7 years or older, and is ready to receive these sacraments, please contact Jennifer Anderson, RE teacher, at [email protected]. |
Some of you have inquired about when RCIA is happening.
RCIA is a gentle journey. RCIA will meet on Sunday after Mass for about an hour and opens up and answers questions one may have about faith, hope and the Church. It's a wonderful journey. We will gather for the first time on Sunday November 10th in the Fellowship Hall. We will start there and if it is too noisy we will move into the Rectory. There is no commitment; just an opportunity to explore our journey of faith together. Please let the office know you are planning on coming. |
CATHOLIC CHARITIES NEEDS SOME MUSCLE
Catholic Charities of Oregon resettles refugees. One of the heaviest jobs is providing furniture. On the third Saturday of each month (except December), Catholic Charities convenes the Saturday Donation Team at its storage unit in Northeast Portland. There, volunteers help unload and organize furniture and household goods. You could be part of a team effort to make sure that the families have basic furniture for their new homes. Time commitment is 2-4 hours. Volunteers must be 18 or older, or, if under 18, a minor release form must be completed by parent or legal guardian of the minor. Questions: Peter Vins, [email protected]. |
In Case of an Emergency
