Volunteer Opportunity
Sacred Heart is in need of volunteers to join the ministry "Spreading God's Word" which entails participating in a Mass as a videographer to ensure the Live Feed on Facebook takes place each Mass time. This committee of volunteers help Father Bob make sure we are able to spread the Word of God for those who are unable to join Mass and participate in person. We still need someone to cover Daily Mass times (Wednesday, Thursday, and Fridays) and be on our committee to help with weekend Mass times also. You must be willing to create a Facebook account in your name, comply with all compliance standards of Facebook, and work in the "Editor" status on the Sacred Heart Facebook account. You will use the iPhone from church for this task. If interested, please reach out to the office staff at: [email protected] or at 503-231-9636 Get Involved! Will you please?
Here at Sacred Heart we really need additional volunteers (please) to participate in many different ministries. Are you interested? Please pray about becoming more involved. Can you share your time during Mass to be an Altar Server, Eucharistic Minister, Usher, Greeter, or Sacristan? Questions about your role in one of these ministries can be answered by Fr. Bob and our spotlight on a ministries each week. This Week's Spotlights Sacristans are critical behind the scenes ministers who are responsible for unlocking and locking the church, turning on the lights and setting up all the elements necessary for Mass. A Sacristan is really a hospitality minister making sure the church is welcoming to all who come in to celebrate. The ministry of ushers is the oldest lay ministry in the Catholic Church. They are descended from the doorkeepers of the temple in the time of Christ. At Sacred Heart, the primary jobs of ushers are ringing the bells before Mass, taking up the offertory collection, assisting in the Communion flow, and providing the weekly bulletin to members of the congregation as they leave the church. Ushers also assist the Greeters in welcoming parishioners and visitors as they enter the church. In the absence of greeters, ushers select those who will bring up the offertory gifts. If the church is crowded, as is the case at Easter or Christmas, ushers also assist in the seating of parishioners and guests. As we highlight a ministry options, please call during office hours when you decide where you will share time with your church. Thanks be to God for all our volunteers! |
