Thanksgiving Day Mass |
Thanksgiving Day November 24th was a high holy day at Sacred Heart. It was where we began as a community to give thanks to God. Mass was at 9:00 a.m. Thank you for being a witness and starting with gratitude to God. Thank you also for blessing others with our gifts of food and money to be used by our St. Vincent DePaul for food, utility and rent assistance for those in dire need in our area. This past year (fiscal year ending 9/30/16), through YOUR generosity, our St. Vincent DePaul, has served 652 households, 1483 people, which includes $2089 in rent support, $2370 for utilities and $9852 for food. Wonder what the average food bill for our families is in a month?
That is why our Thursday Thanksgiving celebration is so important and a glimpse of heaven on earth. Because we listen with our hearts, and we willingly respond as a Family in gratitude, who has been blessed, to help those far less fortunate than any of us. And, it’s o.k. to feel good about what we can do because, truly, we enable our St. Vincent DePaul Conference to do the Lord’s work all year long in our name. As usual, we built a pyramid behind the altar on Thanksgiving morning of toilet paper. Why? It's not something that can be purchased with assistance coupons, but absolutely an essential. And it is expensive. Thank you! |
